Falcons, Lions in city brawl

Lions, Falcons in city brawl.

The WA Football Commission has launched an investigation into an alleged brawl at a city night spot on Saturday night involving players from Subiaco and West Perth.

Police are believed to have been called to the incident, which occurred at a Northbridge nightclub in the wake of the second round of WAFL matches earlier that day.

West Perth chief executive David Crute confirmed at least one Falcons player had been injured, although the seriousness is not yet known.

The number of players involving from both clubs is still to be confirmed.

The WAFC are due to put out a statement shortly confirming they are opening an investigation.

“We do understand there was an altercation that both clubs are working with the WAFL to get to the bottom of,” Crute said.

“There was an injury to one of our players, but again I don’t know the extent, I don’t know how it happened. All we can really say at this point is that both clubs from the WAFL will investigate that further.

“We will be in a position in the next couple of days to be able to shed further light on that matter.”

Subiaco confirmed they were also aware of the incident and were carrying out their own internal investigation.
