West Perth have bounced back to form with an upset eight-point win against league leaders Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval.
The Falcons had slumped to a 52-point loss in the country fixture against East Fremantle at Kalannie the previous weekend.
It was a much-improved West Perth side which hit back to down a wayward Swans 11.13 (79) to 9.17 (71).
Midfielders Shane Nelson, Mark Hutchings, Matt Guadagnin, Ray Bartholomew and Aaron Black were damaging players for the winners while Jordan Jones did a great shut-down job on Swan Districts playmaker Matt Riggio.
Defenders Steven Browne and Dan Hunt also restricted the influence of Michael Walters and Tim Geappen in his 100th WAFL match.
The winning margin would have been far greater if not for a five-goal haul from full forward Ashley Hansen.
Hansen maintained his stellar form with the first two goals of the match in the blink of an eye.
The West Coast and Swans premiership spearhead found range at the two-minute mark and five-minute mark to give the home team an early advantage.
The game developed into an arm wrestle at that stage before West Perth hit back with goals to Nelson and Guadagnin to reduce the margin to four points at quarter time.
Hansen had bagged two more by the 16-minute mark of the second quarter to help Swans to a 12-point lead.
That proved something of a turning point, Anthony Tsalikis, Guadagnin and Fremantle squad member Jay van Berlo booting consecutive goals to give West Perth a five-point lead at half time.
The Falcons stretched that lead to 18 points early in the third stanza after goals to AFL squad members Andrew Strijk (West Coast) and Kepler Bradley (Fremantle).
Hansen kicked his fifth soon after to keep the black and whites in the contest after West Perth had threatened to take control.
The Falcons turned for home with a 16-point lead with Swans losing any hope of a revival when Hansen limped from the ground four minutes into the last quarter with what appeared to be a groin injury.
Swans won the reserves by five points with the Falcons taking out the colts game by 21 points.
