Perth Glory insist Shane Smeltz will be available for Saturday's clash with Sydney FC at nib Stadium despite the star striker limping off the training pitch this morning.

Smeltz, who tore a hamstring earlier in the season, left training with a groin problem and did not return.

A club spokesman said it was only a precaution and Smeltz would be cleared to take on the struggling Sky Blues, who sit last on the table after a horror run of just two wins in their last 10 games.

Sydney have endured their own injury troubles this season, with chief executive Tony Pignata forced to call an emergency meeting to discuss the growing problem with the club's coaching, fitness and conditioning staff.

But they were given a big boost for the trip to Perth with the inclusion of four key players.

Star striker Alessandro Del Piero was rested for last week's 3-0 loss to Adelaide and will return against Glory, while Jason Culina (knee), Joel Chianese (thigh) and Ali Abbas (suspension) were included in the squad.
