Glory women still top despite loss

Perth Glory women remain two points clear on top of the W-League despite suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of reigning champions Canberra United at Deakin Football Stadium today.

Caitlin Munoz converted a fifth-minute penalty to give the home side the lead following a foul on Hayley Raso.

But Glory were level just four minutes later when in-form striker Rosie Sutton found the net.

Matildas attacker Collette McCallum nearly gave Glory the lead when she struck the crossbar with a fierce drive from 20m.

Nikki Washington fired home on 53 minutes to give Canberra their second lead of the game and they held on despite Kate Gill and Lisa De Vanna going close to equalising.

An indirect free kick from McCallum flew into the top corner but was ruled out as it went untouched.
Glory are away to third-placed Brisbane on Saturday.
