Western Force have held talks with NSW Waratahs utility back Jono Lance as they look ahead to next season after a disastrous 2015 campaign.

A number of Force backs, including Patrick Dellit who has not played this year, Luke Morahan and Marcel Brache are out of contract at the end of the season.

Nick Cummins only re-signed for one season from Red Sparks, Akihito Yamada is on a one-year concession contract from Japan and Brad Lacey would need an upgrade from the wider training squad.

Lance can play in the midfield or at full-back and though he started at No.15 for Queensland when they won the 2011 Super Rugby final, he is keen to make his mark in the centres.

However, whether the prospective 92kg recruit is the answer to the Force’s urgent need for a big ball-carrying midfielder is up for debate.

The Force are riding a 10-game losing streak to be anchored in last position and face the Waratahs at nib Stadium on Saturday night.

The Force’s only victory this year was against the Waratahs in round one. “That win was all about aggression and attitude,” captain Matt Hodgson said.

“We were all playing for each other, our aggression and attitude was right up there.”
