6:00am: Cycling - Aussie Matthew Glaetzer finishes fourth and narrowly misses out on men's keirin final.

5:40am: Boxing - Irish fighter slams 'cheating' judges after shock loss: "They're known for being cheats and they'll always be cheats"

5:20am: Gymnastics - America's Simone Biles wins her fourth gold medal in Rio, winning in the floor exercise.

4:50am: Football - Heartbreak for Brazil's women as they lost to Sweden in the semi-finals in an epic penalty shootout 4-3.

4:30am: Silver Sailing - Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin claim a silver medal in the Narca 17 – Mixed Multihill sailing.

4:15am: Rio Romance - After winning a silver medal in the triple jump, American Will Claye went into the stands to propose to his girlfriend.

3:40am: Diving - Defending gold medalist Ilia Zakharov got this one all mixed up, belly flopping his way into the pool.

3:15am: Sailing - Gold Medal for Australia! Tom Burton fights down to the wire to claim the win in the Men’s Laser Radial Sailing.

2:45am: Sailing - Australia's Ashley Stoddart has finished ninth in sailing's Laser Radial class.

2:20am Athletics - New Zealand runner Nikki Hamblin showed what the Olympic spirit is all about, helping the USA's Abbey D'Agostino up after they both fell in the 5000m heat.

1:55am: Basketball - Heartbreak for the Opals as they exit the competition at the hands of Serbia in the quarter-finals 73-71.

1:30am: Athletics - Usain Bolt takes a leisurely stroll in his 200m heat, cruising home in front. He barely broke a sweat.

1:20am: Athletics - Aussie Dani Samuels just misses out on a medal, finishing fourth in the women's discus. Croatian powerhouse Sandra Perkovic wins her second-straight Olympic gold medal.

1:00am: Diving - Australian diver Grant Nel has failed to qualify for the men's 3m springboard final, finishing 15th in the semi-final.

12:50am: Discus - Dani Samuels in the hunt for a medal. With three throws to go, she sits in fifth place.

12:15am: Athletics - Aussie Michelle Jenneke finishes sixth in her 100m hurdles heat, missing out on a spot in the semis.

12:15am: Show-jumping - Australian rider Scott Keach has been eliminated from the individual and teams show-jumping competition after he was thrown from his horse.

12:10am: Cycling - Australian Matthew Glaetzer has finished second in his heat to reach the second round of the keirin.

12:00am: Marathon Swimming - The Netherlands’ Ferry Weertman (1:52:59.8) edges Greece’s Spiros Gianniotis in a photo finish to win the men’s 10km marathon swim. Aussie Jarrod Poort finishes 20th after leading for most of the race.

ATHLETICS - WOMEN'S 5000m: Aussie girls Eloise Wellings and Gen La Caze finish 6th and 7th respectively to book a spot in the final of the women’s 5000m.

ATHLETICS - WOMEN'S 5000m: Great news too for fellow Australian girl Madeline Hills she has also qualified for the final of the women's 5000m after finishing sixth in her heat with a time of 15min 21.33sec.

CANOE SPRINT: Hungary have pipped Germany to gold in the women's K2 500m canoe sprint by the narrowest of margins. The race came right down to the wire for the two countries while Poland finished third. Australia crossed the line eighth.
