WA pacer Im Victorious won impressively when making his Sydney debut at Menangle yesterday and he is on target for Sunday week's $200,000 Chariots Of Fire (1609m).

Reinsman Justin Prentice took him straight to the front in a 1609m event and he was unextended to rate 1:52.7 in beating OK Courage by 4.8m.

"It was only his second start in 10 weeks and he can improve on the run," trainer Michael Brennan said.

"The Chariots will be at Menangle and it was good he could become familiar with the track in today's race. All is on schedule for him to be at peak form in Sunday week's big race."

Im Victorious proved his class when winning the $200,000 WA Derby (2506m) and the $175,000 Golden Nugget (2506m) at Gloucester Park last year.

The news wasn't so good for Fremantle Cup winner Dasher VC, who is lame and was scratched yesterday from Sunday week's $750,000 Inter Dominion Championship (3000m) at Menangle.

He was due to have been flown from Perth to Sydney on Friday with other WA Inters acceptors Im Themightyquinn and Mysta Magical Mach.

"Dasher VC has off-fore fetlock joint soreness," trainer Andrew De Campo said. "He needs a three-month spell."

Victorian pacer Bitobliss, who was first emergency, will replace Dasher VC in the Inters.
