The iconic Kalgoorlie race round has been thrown into chaos with today’s Boulder Cup meeting abandoned.

A section of the track about 50m from the winning post and out eight to 10 horses wide is dangerously waterlogged after rain hit the Goldfields Friday night and Saturday.

Chief steward Brad Lewis said the $110,000 Goldline Distributors Boulder Cup (1760m) will be added to Wednesday’s Kalgoorlie meeting featuring the $130,000 KBRC Hannan’s Handicap (1400m).

“It’s quite a decent wet patch,” Lewis said.

“It’s not very safe for racing. We looked at running the meeting tomorrow but it would still be a concern.

“The track will undergo extra work but the club is confident it will be fine for Wednesday.”
