Hoppers dazzle Diamonds

Grasshoppers goal attack Katie McAllister played well last Thursday.

Grasshoppers have shot to the top of the Kununurra Netball Association A-grade ladder with a hard-fought 11-goal win against Pink Diamonds last Thursday.

After an even first half, the Hoppers went to another gear in the third quarter with goal attack Katie McAllister finishing off some slick mid-court work from Brooke Welsh and Janelle Atwell.

An ankle injury to Diamonds goal attack Bridget Johnstone also helped Grasshoppers to eventually pull away and win 40-29.

In other results, Shooters were too strong for Redbacks, winning 41-32, and Flamin Galahs held on to win a nail-biter against Hornets 34-32 in the early game.

Fruit Bats continued their strong start to the season in B-grade with a dominant 64-24 win against Black Magic and sit on top of the ladder.

Stormers also had an important win against What Now, 34-24, to remain second while the other two B-grade matches were blowouts.

Boabz were too strong for Bootleggers 45-5, while Rogue Pigeons thumped Blaze 38-0.

In C-grade top team Renegades remained unbeaten, easily accounting for Toe Taggers 41-8, while Jabirus and Fusion played out a thrilling 26-all draw.

Thunderbirds beat Blue Jays 38-29 in the other game.

Netball continues tonight from 6.30pm.
