Pitch penis costly for Redback
Fringe South Australian paceman Daniel Worrall has been suspended for scratching an image of a penis and testicles on a cricket pitch.
The bizarre incident came as Worrall, who has played five first-class games for the Redbacks, played in a Futures League match in Melbourne which ended last Friday.
Worrall scratched the offensive imagine onto a pitch at Toorak Park in Melbourne that was being prepared for a grade cricket match.
"We are extremely disappointed in Daniel's actions, it's not in line with the behaviour we expect of a Redbacks player," SA Cricket's high performance manager Jamie Cox said on Tuesday.
"We do believe this out of character for Daniel. He regrets his behaviour and has accepted the penalty."
For breaching Cricket Australia's code of conduct, Worrall has been suspended for four one-day or Twenty20 fixtures.
