Six young West Australian cricketers will be helped to fast-track their development with winter scholarships to play and train in England, India and Sri Lanka.

In a clear sign of the bright future facing the Warriors, WA provided a third of the contingent with all but one of those players having played senior State cricket this season.

Spinners Ashton Agar and Ashton Turner and batsman Will Bosisto will be among six players sent to England to play club cricket in Hampshire and link with the Ashes, Champions Trophy and Australia A squads on tour later this year.

Mitch Marsh, Sam Whiteman and Joel Paris will be part of a group that will spend time training in India or Sri Lanka.

Test paceman Pat Cummins will also be part of that group as he tries to return to first-class ranks after more than 15 months out of the game with a heel injury and spinal stress fractures.

National talent manager Greg Chappell said the Australian Institute of Sport scholarships were part of Cricket Australia's plan to expose young players to conditions and circumstances they were likely to face as future internationals.

"The players heading to England are talented young cricketers who will benefit greatly from the exposure to the different conditions they will see over there," Chappell said.

"They will also link up and train with the Australia A side as well as the ODI team during the ICC Champions Trophy and the Test squad ahead of the Ashes.

"The pace bowlers will also get to spend some time with one of Australia's greatest pace bowlers, Glenn McGrath, at the MRF Pace Foundation in India.

"And the spinners and batsmen will head to Sri Lanka to experience the different conditions the subcontinent brings."

The AIS and CA also named three development scholars to take part in centre of excellence programs during school holidays.
