Warrior Voges to undergo scans

West Australian batsman Adam Voges will undergo scans on his troublesome back to determine his availability for next week's double-header against Victoria at the WACA Ground.

Voges injured his back on Wednesday while fielding in WA's eight-wicket Sheffield Shield loss to NSW.

The 32-year-old suffered similar issues with his back last season, but Warriors skipper Marcus North was hopeful the latest setback wasn't serious.

"Backs are funny things. From experiencing it myself, they can go as quickly as they come, but other times they can take quite a while," North said.

"The most important thing is to get him right and make sure he has time to get his back right, because there's a lot of cricket coming up.

"He's obviously pretty sore and stiff. It's a similar back issue from last year."

North was disappointed with WA's performance against NSW, in which the Blues secured victory inside three days.

The Warriors posted meagre scores of 217 and 248, while the Blues had plenty of contributors in their totals of 358 and 2-108.

"It's a kick in the backside," North said ahead of Friday's one-day clash with Victoria in Perth.

"But the last thing I want for the guys is to get the confidence knocked out of them.

"It's the first game. There's no doubt we wanted to start the season really well, but I think we'll be better for it - getting a run on the park for when Victoria come over next week."
