WA's premier cricket team has a new identity.
After the completion of a nine-year sponsorship deal with Retravision, the State's Sheffield Shield and one-day team will simply be known as the Warriors from the 2012-13 season.
A bold logo design has also been released, featuring yellow and black colours with 'Warriors' and the Excalibur sword incorporated within a shield.
"While it was felt we needed to evolve our brand mark from the original version, which was created with the launch of the Western Warriors in 1994, it was essential that components such as the shield and Excalibur sword were maintained," WACA Chief Executive Officer Christina Matthews said.
"The retention of the Warriors name was another important aspect, along with strong State identity with the black and yellow colours.
"We take this opportunity to thank Retravision for their outstanding contribution as a valued WACA partner for the past nine years. They have been a great supporter of cricket in this State from the Warriors to grass roots levels."
The new look for the Warriors comes 12 months after the launch of the Perth Scorchers, the WA team competing in the Big Bash Twenty20 league.
