Footy fan menaces Judd

Chris Judd has revealed he felt threatened by a crazed football fan who verbally abused him at a Melbourne restaurant earlier this month.

Judd, a dual Brownlow medallist and the West Coast Eagles' 2006 premiership captain, was dining at the Sea Salt Restaurant in Carlton on April 13 when a man in an Essendon jumper confronted him.

Footage yesterday emerged of the pair facing off in the street, but no punches were thrown.

Restaurant owner Con Kamvissis told Seven News the man was "pretty aggressive" and "looking for trouble".

"He walked up to the corner and grabbed a stool from some other shop and started walking back and he's thrown the stool," the restaurant owner said.

He said Judd told the man to leave him alone and that he wanted to eat in peace, and asked fellow diners to call police.

Witnesses said they feared the confrontation, which lasted about 10 minutes, would result in a violent altercation.

The 31-year-old Carlton star left without finishing his meal and staff convinced the Essendon fan to leave.

Judd told Channel 9 it was a threatening and frustrating situation.

"He was pretty close to coming to blows but I have no interest in fighting anyone, particularly a stranger," he said.

"I felt in a very threatened situation. As a footy player my mind was racing around the fact that I couldn't do anything to this bloke until I was essentially assaulted."

Judd said he did not want any further action taken against the man.
