Hill's purple patch for Dockers

Fremantle have played their second intra-club hit out of the pre-season at Fremantle Oval today with a strong Purple team, led by Stephen Hill, thrashing the White team by 10 goals.

The Purple team, which belted an inexperienced White line-up last Saturday, was again stacked with star players and boosted by the inclusion of captain Matthew Pavlich, Hill and David Mundy, who all missed the last game.

But towering ruckman Aaron Sandilands, who was used in a tall forward structure last week, and young forward Matt Taberner sat the game out.

Nat Fyfe, Ryan Crowley, Zac Dawson, Danyle Pearce and Garrick Ibbotson were the other regulars not to play.

The teams played 17 on 17 with breaks in the middle of the 20-minute quarters.

Michael Walters kicked three goals before going off to run laps

The Purple team didn’t have a bench, while the White team had top up players from Peel who sat out much of the game.

Pavlich, who kicked one goal in a tough battle with Chris Mayne, and fellow veteran Luke McPharlin were both pulled out at half time and then ran laps, as was Tendai Mzungu (White).

Michael Walters spent time in the midfield as he racked up three goals to three-quarter-time before also going off and running laps alongside Max Duffy, who was lively up forward for the White team.

Star defender Michael Johnson also finished his day before the last quarter began.

Mayne continued to be tried in the backline before shifting to the Purple team as a forward in the second half, but he couldn’t register a score from two set shot attempts.

Lachie Weller handpasses for the White team

Young forward Michael Apeness struggled to impact, with Tanner Smith doing a good job on the promising tall.

Mundy did not skip a beat to be one of the best men on the ground, while Hill was brilliant with two goals and setting up a number of others.

Michael Barlow and Lachie Neale were prominent for the White team, while draftees Connor Blakely and Lachie Weller were also impressive for the losing team.

Blakely, Weller and fellow first year Josh Deluca each contributed goals to the White side.

Blakely switched to the Purple team in the final term, while Hayden Crozier, Paul Duffield, Jon Griffin, Jack Hannath and Tommy Sheridan switched between the two teams.

Hayden Ballantyne put a scare through the camp when he went down heavily in the opening term but he bounced back and the team appeared to get through unscathed.

The contest was fairly even at half time, but the Purple team blew them away in the third term with six unanswered goals. Only inaccuracy in the final term prevented the margin being more.
