Josh Hill secures new Eagles deal

Fringe forward Josh Hill has avoided the chop at West Coast, securing a new one-year deal, with Jamie Bennell also signing a two-year extension.

thewest.com.au understands Hill agreed to his contract extension with the club earlier in the season.

The Eagles told Hill early in the year that they intended to keep him on the list and were happy to make it official to allow the former Western Bulldog to find some form without thoughts about his future clouding his mind.

Hill played 42 games in his first two seasons at the Eagles, kicking 63 goals, but was limited to just seven goals from nine appearances in 2014.

However the 25-year-old cemented a spot in the senior side during a stunning run home which saw the Eagles win four of their last five games.

West Coast coach Adam Simpson this week told radio station 6PR the club could make between five and seven changes to the list, but would wait for the WAFL season to end before making any decisions official.

Adam Carter, Jacob Brennan, Ash Smith, Simon Tunbridge and Blayne Wilson all remain out of contract.

Sam Butler is expected to be offered a new one-year deal.
