Cometti: Suns stroke of good fortune to have Bluey

Cometti: Comfortably my worst yet ...

I know it's bad form but I'm not across the Western Derby just yet.

At time of writing I'm somewhere over the Great Australian Bight, still mulling over what I've already seen this weekend.

I know Fremantle won the derby but the replay is a treat for Monday now that the Atlanta Hawks have been eliminated from the NBA play-offs and Fulham have been relegated from the Premier League.

Yesterday Geelong managed to keep a clean sheet for the first 50 minutes of my game (if only Fulham could do that) before Richmond came storming back to almost snatch it.

The Cats win made it 10 straight and 17 of the last 18 against the Tigers.

Yet as impressive as that record is, and as good as that game was, perhaps the most meaningful result of the entire round was Gold Coast's crushing win over North Melbourne.

Isn't it about time somebody gave Guy McKenna some credit?

As recently as last year the former West Coast champ was rumoured to be under pressure to retain his job. Yet McKenna is certainly having the last laugh.

Maybe, just like his Suns, his coaching and man-management continues to fly under the radar.

Good on him.
