Sylvia named in extended squad

Fremantle's injury crisis deepened this afternoon with the news Chris Mayne had not recovered from a foot injury sustained in last week's loss to Hawthorn.

Mayne, Michael Walters (ankle) and Garrick Ibbotson (shoulder) were all omitted from the Dockers' team to face Essendon at Patersons Stadium this Sunday.

Zac Clarke was named on the field for the first time this season, with Zac Dawson also returning after a one-game suspension.

High-profile recruit Colin Sylvia, Clancee Pearce, Josh Simpson and Matt Taberner were all named on an extended interchange bench.

The squad will be trimmed to 22 tomorrow afternoon.

Meanwhile Essendon have named experienced pair Paul Chapman and Dustin Fletcher despite concerns over their fitness earlier in the week.

Patrick Ryder has yet to return from a foot injury, with Dylan Van Unen, Travis Colyer and Leroy Jetta the only players added to the 25-man squad.
