Johnson named for Dockers

Fremantle defender Michael Johnson has been named to play in tomorrow night's grand final rematch against Hawthorn at the MCG despite lingering doubts over his fitness.

Johnson was named in the club's 22 alongside Garrick Ibbotson, Alex Silvagni and Lachie Neale, who come into the team at the expense of Nat Fyfe, Zac Dawson (suspended) and Michael Barlow (knee).

Clancee Pearce, Hayden Crozier and Zac Clarke were named as emergencies.

Johnson, who coach Ross Lyon described as "sore" early this week, did not leave for Melbourne with the rest of the squad on Wednesday but was due to fly east today.

Speaking this morning, Dockers assistant coach Michael Prior insisted the 29-year-old would play tomorrow night.

"He'll come across today, he's obviously missed the flight for personal reasons, but we're confident he'll be fine," he said.

There are also doubts over the availability of fellow defender Silvagni, who was spotted in WA this morning but named in the team this afternoon.

The Hawks have injury troubles of their own ahead of tomorrow night's blockbuster, with captain Luke Hodge failing to prove his fitness in time.

The Norm Smith medallist will be replaced in the side by Sam Mitchell, who was a late withdrawal against Essendon last week.

Matt Spangher is the other addition to the side which beat the Bombers, coming in at the expense of raw young forward Tim O'Brien (omitted).
