Worsfold joins The West and Seven
West Coast legend John Worsfold has joined The West Australian and Channel 7 to provide football analysis and commentary.
Having led the Eagles to its three premierships as captain in 1992 and 1994 and coach in 2006, 45-year-old Worsfold is one of the most revered figures in the game despite ending his coaching tenure last year.
His analyses will feature in The West and for Seven News and Today Tonight and he will also be involved in Telethon projects.
Worsfold said his first summer without a preseason since he was a teenager let him refresh and connect more strongly with his family.
"Footy does fill your schedule up and it's hard to fit a lot of things in," he said. "I haven't been idle but it's been a different kind of busy. Before, everything was pretty much based at Subiaco Oval and now I've even found parts of Floreat I didn't know existed."
Worsfold said he would lean on his AFL experience to give readers and viewers a firsthand insight into both players and tactics.
"It's just an opportunity . . . to give people a bit more insight into why some decisions are made and why things head the way they do," he said.
Worsfold has joined former Australian marathon star Steve Moneghetti's Leap Performance group, which provides high-performance coaching to groups, teams and individuals and the Australian Institute of Management.
