West Coast will welcome back star players Josh Kennedy, Dean Cox and Matt Rosa in Sunday’s NAB Cup round two match against Collingwood at Patersons Stadium but Beau Waters and Mark Nicoski have been ruled out.

Coach John Worsfold said today the key trio were ready for their first hit-out of the year.

“Josh was ready to go in the last game but just had a very minor tweak in his ankle which we thought we didn’t want to stress him by playing on it,” he said.

“He is raring to which is great for him.

“Coxy is back but he hasn’t really missed any training anyway so he’s right to go.”

Vice captain Waters and veteran forward Nicoski will be eased back in on their returns from serious injuries.

“Nico is around when he is prepared to step into a full match game, he may or may not play next week,” Worsfold said.
“Beau we are very confident will play next week.”

Worsfold said he had pencilled in Nic Naitanui (groin) and Daniel Kerr (knee) for round one on March 23, despite them being unlikely to see any NAB Cup action.

“He (Naitanui) is tracking along really well, it’s exciting.

“We are a fair way out from round one so every player is in doubt for round one at this stage.

“I have got them all pencilled in but we will wait and see.

“He (Kerr) is going pretty well, he ran pretty hard this morning and said he felt good.”

Worsfold said star forward Mark LeCras, who made a successful return to football after 12 months out in round one of the NAB Cup, was looking forward to upping his game time on Sunday.
