Fremantle's midfield linchpins David Mundy and Nat Fyfe are set to have their first competitive hit-outs for the year against Adelaide tomorrow morning at AAMI Stadium after being named in a 26-man squad yesterday.

The Dockers will also take their first look in a match at young defender Tanner Smith, a second-round draft pick who has impressed over the pre-season, and mature-age ruckman Jack Hannath, who joined the club via the pre-season draft.

The bulk of the squad will have their second outing of the pre-season after games in the triple header against West Coast and Geelong last weekend, but midfielder Lachie Neale will have his first match practice of 2013.

Mundy and Fyfe were rested last weekend for different reasons. Mundy rolled an ankle late last month and was given the extra week off to make sure he had recovered.

Fyfe, who has added 3kg over summer in a bid to better hold ground in the midfield clinches, has been eased into his workload and match practice as the club monitors how he is coping with the extra weight.

The club has high hopes for Smith, 18, a 196cm defender from North Ballarat's TAC Cup team.

He ran a 10min. 18sec. 3km time trial at the 2012 draft combine before being taken by the Dockers with the 36th pick overall.

Small forward Hayden Ballantyne will be rested from the match after training earlier than teammates at Fremantle Oval yesterday morning.

But skipper Matthew Pavlich looks to be drawing closer to a return to the field and joined in much of the session.

Pavlich is expected to play in only the last NAB Cup match ahead of round one after three operations - on his Achilles tendon, hip and back - over summer.
