UPDATE: The AFL says it is satisfied with Fremantle's explanation and medical report on the Jon Griffin/Aaron Sandilands late change before the match with Richmond at Patersons Stadium on Saturday.

No further action will be taken.

The AFL had launched a formal investigation into the matter and according to the AFL website the club was asked to explain the nature of an injury which meant ruckman Griffin pulled out from the team just 10 minutes before the bounce.

At a press conference following the 22-point win, Dockers coach Ross Lyon said Griffin had pulled his groin in the final warm-up and told doctors he was not confident of running out the match.

Sandilands, who had been named as an emergency and had warmed up with the side, was then included at his expense.

The AFL asked the club to justify the extent of the injury and if they are not satisfied with the answer it is likely they will impose a fine.

The investigation came after Tigers coach Damien Hardwick labelled Sandilands' inclusion 'against the nature of the game', while acknowledging the club was entitled to make the change according to AFL rules.
