Kyrgios at controversial worst in loss to Berdych

Aussie firebrand Nick Kyrgios drew boos from his home crowd as he bombed out of the Australian Open in controversial fashion.

Kyrgios unleashed on the chair umpire James Keothavong during his match against Tomas Berdych after music in the crowd threw him right off his game in the second set.

The 20-year-old was serving when he stopped and looked towards the chair.

"Can you not hear that?" an agitated Kyrgios asked.

"Is it normal for us to be playing with music in the crowd?"

The umpire seemed perplexed before acknowledging there was some background music playing throughout the stadium and asked the Aussie if he wanted to stop.

Oddly enough, the home crowd seemed upset with Nick's antics with several boos ringing out.

Kyrgios managed to hold serve before unloading on Keothavong at the change of ends.

"Are you OK? I've told you seven times that there is music in the crowd while we are playing!"

Kyrgios claimed the umpire never asked him if he wanted to stop while they sorted the issue out, which commentators were quick to point out was not the case.

He finished up with his usual line: "This is a circus".

Kyrgios managed to regain some composure to win the third set, but resumed his battle with officialdom in the fourth.

Needing to hold serve to stay alive at 4-5, Kyrgios hit back at the umpire when asked if he wanted to challenge an out call off his serve.

"Mate, give me a break!" he spat.

The local hope then double faulted to hand Berdych the match before telling the chair umpire he was 'a terrible referee'.
