Underdogs Kalgoorlie will adopt the role of potential spoilers in today's Goldfields Football League clash with Boulder.

In a big weekend for the club, Boulder are celebrating their 2005 premiership with a special reunion.

However, it shapes as a danger game for the Tigers against opposition coming off a morale-boosting round 8 win over Kambalda.

It was the Roos' first triumph of the season after six losses, while Boulder are a victory shy of matching last season's five wins.

Boulder's solid early form includes a win over first-placed Mines Rovers in round 6.

But Kalgoorlie coach Brendon Simpson believes he has the personnel to make inroads on the squad's round 4 loss to the Tigers.

"It's interesting because we started our new (training and game day) regime about midway through the first qualifying series, albeit with no great results because it was too early to tell," he said.

"We lost last time (to Boulder) by about four goals, but we've improved.

"They (Boulder) have beaten one of the best sides and have a solid unit, but I'm a little bit excited because I think we'll match up OK."

After a belated win, Simpson said it was important the group continued to improve.

"It's been a good week and the players are definitely buoyed by last weekend," he said.

"But I also told them one win doesn't make you premiers and I've put a massive importance on consecutive goalkicking and back-to-back wins.

"We're all very hungry to sing the (club) song again."

This weekend's Boulder reunion brings together members of the club's 2005 grand final team, which beat Kalgoorlie by 75 points.

It delivered the Tigers' first flag in seven years, with Shannon Parfitt the Fyson Medallist as best-onground.

The match at Digger Daws Oval starts at 3pm.
