Cometti: Different jumpers not so uniform
I watch a lot of footy replays but last week in preparation for the weekend just gone what is usually a labour of love proved rather disconcerting.
Am I just imagining it, or is the number of alternative uniforms in the AFL intended to keep pace with the State Government deficit?
Seems to me some clubs are well on their way to seven or eight variations by September. And if nothing else round six was the high water mark so far.
It took Hawthorn, for all their ability on the field, to trot out the year's worst design against GWS.
The year's worst, maybe the worst of all time, and it's only May!

The reigning premiers hardly need publicity but I can only assume they were hoping it might appear blue and black to some.

After watching that weekend's passing parade of alternate strips I spoke with a few of my friends.
Several confessed (under the promise of anonymity) that quite often these days at least one team is a mystery when they first tune in to watch a casual game of footy on television.
I suppose the good news is it's the sort of thing that makes the commentator almost essential.
