Perth Glory players have rallied around a teenager who was injured by a flare set off by fans during the team’s game against Sydney FC earlier this month.

Kaia, 13, spent six days at Princess Margaret Hospital after suffering burns to his leg on April 10.

Perth Glory posted pictures on the club’s website tonight of Kaia meeting his idols at training, including fellow Irishman Andy Keogh.

“Perth Glory has been 100 per cent supportive behind us and Kaia," his mother Naomi said.

“The club has been very genuine, the players are a great bunch of guys and the constant contact with the club has been great, I can’t say enough about the good work Perth Glory has done,” she added.

His mother said Kaia, who is an avid soccer fan, did not require skin grafts on his leg.

Glory coach Kenny Lowe and players Danny De Silva and Michael Thwaite visited the teenager while he was in hospital

De Silva said he was impressed by his strength.

"He seemed like a strong young man, he seemed to be handling it very well and was maintaining a positive attitude despite everything that happened".

Two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, have been charged with grievous bodily harm.

It will be alleged they fired the flare in the stands during Glory’s 3-0 loss to Sydney FC.

The boys will appear in the Perth Children’s Court next month.

The incident happened hours after the club was fined and kicked out of the A-League finals over its salary cap breaches.
