Harnwell has little sympathy for Glory

Perth Glory legend Jamie Harnwell found it hard to have sympathy for his former club after they were hammered by Football Federation Australia yesterday.

Glory were banned from from playing in this season's finals, fined almost $270,000 and demoted to a seventh place finish after breaching the A-League salary cap by $400,000 this season.

Lawyers last night went to the WA Supreme Court in a bid to have Glory reinstated in the finals after earlier filing an injunction in an attempt to overrule the sanctions.

But Harnwell, speaking on the nib Stadium turf before Glory's 3-0 loss to Sydney FC last night, did not mince his words.

Describing it as "the worst day in the club's history", Glory's record appearance holder said it was "a sad indictment on the club".

"I think everyone in Perth is just bleeding at the moment," he said.

"(It's) very difficult to find a huge amount of sympathy for the club. Think there'll be a lot of anger towards (owner) Tony Sage and the management.

"It's going to put a lot of people off the club again."
