Danish hot shot Thorbjorn Olesen takes a three-shot lead into Sunday's final round of the ISPS Handa Perth International after a solid round three.

Scot Peter Whiteford skipped ahead of Olesen late on Friday with a brilliant eagle putt, but the young Dane took back the advantage after three birdies from his opening six holes on saturday morning.

The 24-year-old continued his brilliant form on the back nine, with another three birdies to move to 17 under and skip out to a five-shot advantage before bogeying the 15th.

Olesen maintained his nerve in the final three holes to card 67 and move to 16 under.

Korean Siwhan Kim, who must win or finish outright second to retain his European Tour card, had consecutive birdies on the 10th and 11th, eagled the par-four 14th and birdied the 15th, to recover from two bogeys on the front nine and move into outright second at 14 under. He bogeyed the 18th to finish at 13 under.

England’s James Morrison, who shot a course record nine-under 63 on Friday, recovered from a slow start for a three under third round to take outright third at 12 under.

American Peter Uihlein produced a seven-under 65 on Saturday to be among the contenders going into the final day at 11 under.

Uihlein, 25, last won on the European Tour in Portugal last year and said it would be a huge boost to win in Perth.

“It would be nice because my season was almost kind of cut short,” he said.

“I had to take three months off from a back injury, so it will be nice to end the season on a high note.

“As long as TO (Olesen) stays within sight gives everybody a chance.

“He seems to be running away with it.

“It was nice to kind of get up there and get in contention.”

Whiteford, who must also finish runner-up or better to keep his card, struggled to repeat his consistent form over the first two days, falling back to 10 under, alongside Victorian Richard Green and fellow Scotsman David Drysdale.

Royal Perth’s Stephen Dartnall was the big mover of the local hopes, producing seven birdies and three bogeys to move up to nine under in a logjam, which includes South African tournament favourite Charl Schwartzel.

Fellow drawcard, French star Victor Dubuisson finished his round at eight under, with 2013 PGA winner Jason Dufner one shot back at seven under after he bogeyed his last two holes.

Dufner said he was happy to get through three days after a long period out of the game with neck and shoulder issues.

“Thursday I was a little sore, but felt good yesterday and today,” he said.

“It’s good to be out here competing. You know, I was playing pretty good. I just got to clean up some of the mistakes.

“Nice to play four rounds, and keep going next week hopefully. I'm playing pretty good that I can shoot five or six under if everything goes right(tomorrow).

“You never know - get really hot with the putter and put some pressure on the guys with a low round early.”

Mandurah’s Jason Scrivener finished at five under, with Brett Rumford double bogeying the 18th to fall to four under alongside Greg Chalmers, who had five birdies and two bogeys.

Busselton’s Brody Ninyette will remain at one under overnight.

Oliver Goss, was three over in his third round to be one over for the tournament, with Michael Sim also struggling finishing his day at one over.
