CBC assured of top place in amateurs
Fremantle CBC assured themselves of the minor premiership with a thrilling two-point win over second team Wesley Curtin in WA Amateur A Grade on Saturday.
CBC's home victory in the round 16 encounter puts them three wins clear of Wesley Curtin and University, who jumped back to second place on percentage.
Trinity Aquinas also had an important win, taking over fourth spot on the ladder from their opponents Kalamunda. TAs won by four goals at Lesmurdie in another low-scoring game.
North Beach had no such trouble finding the goals. They went on a spree at Whitford's MacDonald Reserve, kicking 25 goals and winning by 103 points to take their percentage to above 100 which could be crucial at the end of the home-and-away season.
West Coast (seventh) kept in touch with the top five by beating Mt Lawley (eighth) at Hamer Park by 23 points. West Coast forward Brad Bennet kicked six goals for the second week in a row to take his tally for the season to 46.
In B Grade, bottom team Willetton had a shock win, by a point, over second-placed Scarborough. North Fremantle sewed up the minor premiership with a 28-point win at home over premiership rival Wembley, who are now second by a mere 0.09 per cent ahead of Scarborough.
