RugbyWA: Students pass Wests test to reach grand final

UWA will face Cottesloe in Sunday's RugbyWA premier grade grand final after snatching a last-minute 18-16 win over Wests Scarborough at Pat O’Hara Reserve on Sunday.

The students trailed 16-15 but after working their way upfield were awarded a penalty for offside and Levon Kvas-Rothwell slotted his sixth kicky of the game.

The result continued the weekend of last-gasp finals victories after Cottesloe upset Nedlands with a late penalty to steal a 27-26 win over the minor premiers at Hartfield Park in the other sem-final.

Cottesloe came back from a 14-point half-time deficit to register one of the upsets of the season having won just one of their last seven games leading into the match.

They were guided home by the accurate kicking of Charl Nieuwenhuis who slotted the winning kick in the final minute.
