Maclure gives Malthouse a lashing
Carlton great Mark Maclure has lashed out at coach Mick Malthouse labelling him a 'bully' and again criticising his manners in the media.
Speaking on Fox Footy's AFL 360 program the Blues premiership player believed Malthouse, who is struggling to reinvigorate Carlton on the field this season needed to be a better public face of the club.
“He’s friendless, can’t find a friend in the world. Everyone I talk to asks me ‘what’s wrong with Mick’?” Maclure said
“He’s a star at it (bullying). What he should be a star at is improving this side — and I haven’t seen that.
“He’s a bullier to media all the time. And that’s something that we’re ashamed of in our society. But they allow him to do it.”
It isn't the first time Maclure has attacked Malthouse for his demeanour.
In April, he slammed the coaching style of the three-times premiership mentor.
“He needs to change as a coach, he needs to change his style of play for a start and the other thing he needs to change - he needs to change his manner,” Maclure said.
“In press conferences ... I don't like the way, that if a bloke has a pencil behind his ear and he’s a reporter or he’s a journalist, that he gives him a clean up and sorts him out and treats him poorly.”
But Maclure's latest outburst follows Malthouse's tirade towards Channel 7 commentator Cameron Ling at half-time of the Carlton-Sydney match at the SCG last Saturday and the Blues coach's surly demeanour at the post-match press conference.
“He runs up, jumps around in the coaches box, yells and screams — it looks like he’s going to do himself some damage,” Maclure said.
