Suban still proving himself as a Docker
Nick Suban still does not feel an established part of Fremantle's best line-up despite playing all but one game this season.
The 24-year-old will bring up his 100th AFL appearance against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on Saturday and will be full of confidence on the back of his best game of the year.
Suban booted a season-high three goals in Sunday's win over Greater Western Sydney to go with six clearances.
It is only the second time the 2008 No.24 draft pick has booted more than two majors in a single match.
His ability to shrug a tackle and nail his second goal from close to the 50m arc late in the first quarter against the Giants showcased his best attributes as a player.
"I've said before that you never feel like you're an established part," Suban said.
"You need to perform week in, week out on the training track and in the games.
"I've just got to play a role and go from there."
Suban, who is contracted at the club for another three seasons, rated his versatility as one of his greatest strengths.
He has spent more time as a high half-forward starting from last season and has now hit the scoreboard with at least one goal in each of his past four matches.
"There's a number of us that can do the same thing," Suban said.
"Lachie Neale (is a) forward/mid, Tendai (Mzungu) plays a lot of different positions. I think you have to have that versatility to be able to play multiple roles."
