Former Dockers in VFL squad

Four former Fremantle Dockers and WAFL players have been picked in the Victorian State squad to play South Australia.

Peter Faulks (Williamstown), Jesse Crichton (Werribee), Josh Mellington (Essendon) and Nick Lower (Footscray) have been in fine form for their clubs in the VFL.

Faulks, Crichton and Mellington were de-listed by Fremantle at the end of last season. Each played just one game for the Dockers last year and had to settle for long stints in the WAFL, Faulks and Crichton with Peel and Mellington with West Perth.

Faulks and Mellington are originally from Victoria and Crichton was drafted from Tasmania.

South Australian Lower was drafted into the AFL by Port Adelaide from Norwood in 2006. He had two seasons with Fremantle in 2011 and 2012 before he was picked up by the Western Bulldogs last year.

Mitch Banner, drafted from Victoria by Port Adelaide before playing for South Fremantle last season, is also in the VFL squad after solid form for Williamstown.

Former Subiaco and West Coast Eagles midfielder Adam Cockie is in the squad after continuing excellence for Sandringham.

Another West Australian, former Claremont colt Shannon Taylor, earned a berth in the squad for his hot form for lowly Frankston.

The VFL v SANFL clash is at North Port Oval, Port Melbourne, on May 31.
