Lions look to end Bayswater’s perfect start

National Premier Leagues WA leaders Bayswater City make the trip to Macedonia Park on Saturday to take on Stirling Lions, who will be looking to end the visitors unbeaten start to the season.

Lions coach Gary Williams has been delighted with his side’s progress, and he has a full squad to choose from, which he hasn’t had all season.

“I am looking forward to the game on Saturday as it will be a real test to see how far we have come as a side over the last two to three months,” he said.

“I was pleased with our response against Sorrento last Friday night, which shows our players have character in abundance and this and our team spirit will benefit us on Saturday.”

Williams watched Bayswater last week and was impressed with them, and knows his team will have to be at their best to get the points.

“They created numerous chances, and they have intelligence and experience running through their team, but our players are ready for the challenge,” he said.

“Bayswater are the benchmark in the league so Saturday will be a great indicator. I expect a great spectacle with some exceptional players on both sides who can create and take chances.”

Armadale will look to bounce back from last week’s heavy defeat against Inglewood when they take on Perth Glory at Intiga Stadium.

Reds coach Lee Bamber was at a loss for last week's result. “It was a bad day at the office against Inglewood, but we move on, and I will be looking for a response from the players this week," he said.

“It looks like the Glory, are finding their feet in the league, and they will be getting some A-League players back, so we know it will be a huge challenge, but it’s one were all looking forward too.”

In other games this weekend Perth entertain former coach Graham Normanton’s Inglewood United at Dorrien Gardens, while Subiaco welcomes Sorrento to the WA Athletics Stadium, looking for their first win of the season.

Cockburn City host Floreat Athena at Dalmatinac Park, while Balcatta make the trip to ECU Joondalup Football Stadium to take on ECU Joondalup. All games on Saturday kick off at 3pm.
