Silvagni out for Dockers

Dockers Silvagni a late withdrawal

Defender Alex Silvagni has been withdrawn from the Dockers team for tonight's grand final rematch against Hawthorn at the MCG after failing to make the trip east.

The West Australian flagged yesterday that Silvagni, 26, had been spotted in Fremantle despite being named just hours later in a back pocket to take on the premiers.

The backman has subsequently been announced as an omission 90 minutes before bouncedown, with Hayden Crozier to instead play his first game for the year.

Silvagni's absence on top of Zac Dawson's suspension potentially leaves Fremantle short down back in combating a potent Hawthorn forward line boasting Jarryd Roughead, Jack Gunston and David Hale.

Tom Sheridan has been named as the substitute for the Dockers, who are also missing key midfielders Nat Fyfe (suspension) and Michael Barlow (knee).

Hawthorn have also had a late withdrawal, with prized recruit Ben McEvoy out of their side.

Jonathon Ceglar has been brought into the line-up in McEvoy's place and will play just the third AFL match of his career.

Angus Litherland will start in the substitute's role for the Hawks.
