Hutchings out for Eagles
Hutchings out for Eagles

Midfielder Mark Hutchings has been ruled out of West Coast's season opener against the Western Bulldogs at Patersons Stadium this Sunday with a back complaint.

The Simpson medallist, who was best afield in last year's WAFL grand final, had been in contention to play round one following an impressive start to the pre-season.

However, the 22-year-old has been slow to recover from a knee to the back suffered at training earlier this month and is now highly unlikely to play in the club's first home-and-away game for 2014.

Hutchings was West Coast's leading possession getter in their two NAB Challenge matches.
