Hussy must pass test to run feature

Hussy By Choice's Bunbury Stakes fate hinges on a vet test today after she sustained a minor hoof injury at trackwork.

Trainer Simon Miller told stewards that Hussy By Choice split the frog in her off-fore hoof when she trod on a foreign object.

The $5 equal second favourite for tomorrow's $100,000 APH Contractors Bunbury Stakes (1400m) will wear a bar shoe on the hoof if passed fit to run.

Miller said Hussy By Choice had not missed any work despite the setback.

Amorino holds favouritism for the Listed feature at $4.

Trainer Dan Morton is expecting significant improvement from Luke's Luck, who is rated a $12 chance.

Morton said Luke's Luck had trained on strongly since his first-up seventh behind Watermans Bay in the Chaff City Pinjarra Classic (1300m) last Sunday week.

"I was happy with the way he hit the line knowing he would take improvement from the run," Morton said. "I've been pleased with him since the run.

"At his best, he's definitely up there with the better chances."

Spin Da Wheels heads a strong line-up of three-year-olds in tomorrow's $100,000 Tabtouch WA Breeders' Classic (1400m).

The Challenge Stakes (1500m) winner is the $3.20 favourite. Testamezzo and the unbeaten Bachelors Prospect are close behind at $3.40 and $3.80.

Meanwhile, another emerging three-year-old is poised to handle a step-up to city class at Ascot today.

He Or She, set for the Budget.com.au Handicap (1200m), created a stir with a sizzling debut win at Bunbury last month.

The 1½-length win over Saxy Filly has trainer Vaughn Sigley excited about the gelding's prospects today.

"He did win pretty good the other day and he has a touch of arrogance," Sigley said.

"He does everything pretty easy and he should go well."

Sigley expected to cop plenty of flak for the name He Or She. He said the correct pronunciation is Hiyoshi, which is an area of a city in Japan.

"Someone mistook him for a filly - that's where the name comes from," Sigley said. "I bred him myself and I race him with Alan MacAlister." DID YOU KNOW? $5 The price being quoted about Hussy By Choice in tomorrow's $100,000 Listed Bunbury Stakes
