Knight back to Bite the hand that fed him

Former Perth Heat manager Brooke Knight is back in town with the hope he will have to return in a few weeks.

Knight, who led the Heat to successive ABL championships during his reign, returns to Barbagallo Ballpark tonight, but this time he's leading his new side, the Adelaide Bite.

The Heat already have sewn up a home championship series from February 7 to 9, but Adelaide are fighting to extend their season beyond this weekend's series in a battle with three other teams in contention for the remaining two play-off spots.

Knight admitted it would be a strange feeling returning with another team to the scene where he had so much success.

"It's definitely going to be different, but you turn the page and this is my family at this point," he said.

"The Adelaide boys and the imports at this club have really stepped up and performed against some adverse conditions.

"That said, I absolutely love all the people in Perth as well."

Knight said he and his former assistant and now head coach Steve Fish were still friends and often discussed rival clubs.

But Knight is determined that his new side continues its momentum into the play-offs.

"Steve knows what he's doing and he's done a great job leading the boys back to the minor premiership," he said.

"He has already done his job and now I have got to figure out how to do mine."

The Bite may need three wins from the four games this weekend to secure their finals place and face an intimidating task against an in-form team which has nothing to lose.

"I think we are a tough team to beat right now," Knight said. "I wouldn't want to play us."
