WA teenager Minjee Lee became the first woman in 15 years to win successive Australian Amateur titles with a powerful performance in the final at the Grange Golf Club in Adelaide yesterday.

In another promising result for the future of WA golf, fellow 17-year-old Curtis Luck was runner-up in the men's championship after a brilliant week.

Lee was too good for 15-year-old Queenslander Karis Davidson, clinching the prestigious title 6 and 5 after going two up after the first 18 holes.

"I came into the tournament without any expectations and just played well, just steady all week, so it's nice to come out with a win," Lee said.

"It is always good to start the year off on a high so it was a great confidence booster."

The world No.5-ranked amateur admitted she might not return to defend her crown in 2015 with the prospect of turning professional moving closer.

"There is a big chance that I will be, but I don't know yet," Lee said.

Lee will play the NSW Open this weekend before the Australian Masters, Australian Open and Victorian Open next month.

She plans to head to the US midway through the year.

"I would like to get some more amateur titles and get some good finishes in the pro tournaments I'm playing in," she said.

"I'm a bit more busy now that I am not going to school.

"I have got a lot more tournaments I want to do."

Cottesloe's Luck claimed an impressive list of scalps on his way to the final, including 2013 finalist Geoff Drakeford. But he couldn't overcome New Zealander Tae Koh, losing 6 and 5.

"I couldn't say that I got an easy draw which made getting to the final that much better," he said.

"If someone had said to me at the beginning of the week 'you can come runner-up in this', I would have taken it."

Luck attributed his great recent form to being able to focus solely on golf after finishing Year 12 last year.
