Ogilvie praised after first six-rounder

Unbeaten West Australian welterweight Brandon Ogilvie earned praise from his trainer Peter Wilkinson after coming through a six-rounder in only his third professional fight.

Ogilvie earned a majority points decision over New Zealander Anthony Taylor on the undercard to the Danny Green-Shane Cameron title fight in Melbourne on Wednesday, and admitted he felt the pace.

"He did well considering he'd only had two professional fights before this one," Wilkinson said.

"There were a few things to work on but I was happy."

Wilkinson also had Jeremy van Diemen on the show - the light-heavyweight's punching power forcing Victorian Lyndon Edney's corner to throw in the towel in round three.

"He just loves to get stuck in," Wilkinson said of van Diemen, who has now won all four of his bouts.
