West Australian batsman Shaun Marsh will spend yet another week in the wilderness after being overlooked for the Warriors' Sheffield Shield clash with South Australia at the WACA Ground, starting Monday.

Marsh, who made headlines last month for his role in the Perth Scorchers' boozy night out in South Africa, was dropped for last week's Shield loss to Victoria due to poor form.

The 29-year-old has registered just 48 runs at an average of 12 in four Shield digs this season, and will have to regain his touch via club cricket ranks.

WA selected opener Liam Davis to replace Mike Hussey, who is on international duties, while allrounder Nathan Coulter-Nile comes in for paceman Nathan Rimmington.

Tasmanian Adam Griffith will take the reins of WA following the resignation of coach Lachlan Stevens.

The WACA are keen to appoint Justin Langer to the full-time role, and the former Test opener will give his answer following the conclusion of Australia's Test against South Africa in Brisbane.

Adam Voges will skipper the side for the rest of the season after Marcus North stepped down.

The Redbacks enter the match full of confidence following their recent win over Tasmania, which broke a Shield drought dating back to November 2010.

WA have been thrashed in each of their three Shield games this season.
