Meehan set to join Force amid overhaul

New Western Force director of coaching Michael Foley will start his overhaul of the coaching team and playing squad when he moves into his new office next Monday.

Former Bath coach Steve Meehan is expected to be appointed backs coach and a number of players currently contracted look like being cut from the side.

Queenslander Meehan coached Bath to a technically efficient and high-quality style of rugby after he was appointed head coach in 2006 and led them to the European Challenge Cup two years later.

Force management has held talks with some players not expected to feature in Super Rugby next year about whether they want to leave the Force or have the opportunity of taking up offers with other clubs.

Among those who are under threat are fly-half David Harvey and backs Rory Sidey and Jordan Rapana.
