Despite being sidelined with a hamstring injury, young Fremantle forward Josh Mellington has been rewarded for his early form this season with a contract extension.
Set to come out of contract at the end of this year, Mellington has committed to the Dockers until the end of 2014.
Drafted with pick No.56 in the 2010 draft, Mellington recorded two senior appearances in his first year before impressing new coach Ross Lyon in the off-season and earning his spot in the best 22 for round one.
Three goals against Geelong saw the 19-year-old hold his spot in the side until a serious hamstring tear against Brisbane in round three sentenced him to a long injury lay-off.
He is expected to return in four weeks.
