Dipper drops by to talk footy and fun

Australian Football League legend Robert DiPierdomenico was in Pemberton last Thursday for a series of training sessions at the Southerners Football Club.

The man known as ‘Dipper’ gave a presentation at the Pemberton Sports Club during the night about his youth and playing days with Hawthorn.

DiPierdomenico said as an AFL ambassador he had travelled around Australia taking training sessions and talking to football clubs.

“I just talk about enjoying the game and because I’m only here for a short time we just have fun, ” he said.

“With the seniors we just went through some quick exercises and the presentation was more about football and a few stories.

“I’ve had great success in the game and I’m an ambassador and I love talking football.”

Southerners Football Club president Justin Omodei said DiPierdomenico was well-received during his training sessions and his presentation.

“He’s obviously a good bloke and you could see what made him such a fierce competitor during the training sessions, ” he said.

“We’re looking to do more events like this in the future and possibly do three or four of them during the football season.”
