Celebrating at Cow on the Corner

Proud of their farming roots, about 100 people gathered at Brunswick’s Cow on the Corner on August 10 to promote the International Year of Family Farming — the theme of this year’s Brunswick Show.

Brunswick Agricultural Society president Michael Partridge said it was an opportunity to embrace the theme and highlight the importance and contributions of farming families in the lead-up to the show.

“We want to recognise farming’s past and at the same time move forwards towards new opportunities, ” he said.

“This whole town is about farming and most of the businesses are involved with farming directly or by supplying farmers with products.

“Family farming is an efficient structure and a rewarding lifestyle.

“It is great to produce food out of almost nothing but soil and water.

“If you can do that as a family, it is something to be proud of.”
