Bunbury will be heavily represented on the national skating stage this year, when 18 skaters from the region compete in 33 events at the 2015 Australian Roller Sports National Artistic Championships in July.

After going well at the State Championships last month, competitors will head to South Australia where they will compete against the nation's best at the Adelaide Arena stadium.

The competitors from the Bunbury Roller Skating Club train at The Rink five to six times a week, with ages ranging from 10 to 48.

Coach Sue Brooks said the number of competitors in the region going to nationals had steadily increased over the years.

"The kids going to nationals work hard. They train anywhere from four to six times a week," she said.

"The sport requires balance, your focus, attention and precise movements.

"There is also a lot of timing, coordination and skill needed."

For the first time Bunbury will send a quartet to compete, with Madison Bright, 12, Jasmine Williams, 15, Andrew Beattie, 12, and Hamish Leahy, 14, to perform a routine inspired by the story of the three musketeers.

2015 Australian Roller Sports National Artistic Championships run from Saturday, July 5, to Friday, July 10.
