Donnybrook's stellar start to the season continued when it defeated the Eaton Boomers by 40 points at Glen Huon Reserve on Sunday.

Last season's wooden spoon recipients defeated the reigning premiers convincingly, winning 17.7 (109) to 10.9 (69).

Donnybrook's victory was set up in the second quarter when it scored seven goals and dominated the midfield contests.

After Blake Piggott kicked the first goal of the second term, Kris Clarkson responded with a goal from a set shot and the floodgates opened.

Jarrad Guglielmana kicked a running goal after picking up a loose ball in the forward line before Clarkson piled on more goals on his way to a haul of five.

Boomer Fred Nortje made up for a shot that went out on the full by converting from a set shot but it was the visitors who dominated the match.

Especially impressive during the second term were Donnybrook midfielders Simon Parry and Curtis Gugliemana - who were instrumental in pushing the visitors forward.

The quarter was highlighted by a great coast-to-coast goal that was finished by Donnybrook forward David Roche, before Chris Atthowe reduced the half-time margin to 33 points.

It was a deficit that Donnybrook never relinquished, as the visitors were never seriously challenged in the second half.

Despite being outplayed, Eaton had strong contributors in Kevin Pickett, Atthowe and Jace Cormack.

The game started with a running goal from Parry before Hayden King added a second to give the visitors a much needed flying start.

Piggott responded with a great running goal, but Clarkson kicked his first as he went on to be the dominant forward on the day.

It was a tight quarter but Eaton's inefficient kicking for goal allowed Donnybrook to build a slight first term lead.

After the visitors' domination of the second term, Atthowe kicked the first goal of the second half but Parry set up Chris Sheehan for a goal before he converted a long-range goal himself.

Denholm King and Atthowe kicked consecutive goals before Clarkson completed his bag of five majors.

With a 39-point three-quarter time lead, Donnybrook were in a comfortable position and the teams traded goals in an even last quarter.

Chris Cross kicked the first goal of the fourth term before Cormack and Brendon Page kicked two consolation goals for the home team.

Roche and Josh Battaglia traded goals before Robbie Cross converted a long-range set shot just before the final siren.
