Libs look to redraw Vasse

The Liberal Party wants to see Libby Mettam's Vasse electorate redrawn in the south to match the City of Busselton's boundary.

The proposal is contained in submissions to the electoral board which oversees boundary distributions and reviews WA maps after each election.

The Nationals fired a broadside at Labor and the Greens for supporting cuts to the Mining and Pastoral region for the Legislative Council, but no changes to the broader South West region were recommended.

The Liberal Party solution for the Legislative Assembly seat of Vasse would return the entirety of the Augusta-Margaret River Shire to the seat of Warren-Blackwood held by Nationals' boss Terry Redman MLA. "This will re-unite the town of Margaret River with its eastern hinterland and will allow this large shire to be united once again … as occurred between 1996 and 2008," the submission said.
