Bunbury BMX sensation Lauren Reynolds has continued her hot start to the year, winning the Oceania Championships in Brisbane at the weekend.

The Olympian dominated the Subaru BMX National Championships at the Sleeman Sports Complex, despite only two races being held before any finals action.

Reynolds grabbed the women's victory on a countback ahead of world number one Caroline Buchanan and rising star Rachel Jones.

The Oceania Championships also doubled as the final round of the nine-event National Series and Reynolds' Oceania victory, coupled with her golden double in rounds five and six of the series at Westside in Perth in March, gave her the overall crown by the slimmest of margins from arch rival Buchanan.

Reynolds said she was pleased with the Oceania Championships and the national series crown but acknowledged the abbreviated competition had given her a surprise victory.

"I'm stoked to win in tough conditions but I think Caroline might have got the short end of the straw the way things finished out (in the national series)," Reynolds said.

"When the racing was cut short I hadn't even thought of what it meant to the national series."
